RIVER REPORT

Current Report - July 01, 2008

Elk River & Tributaries Now Open for the 2008 Season

The river level has dropped over the past week and will continue to drop as we move more into the first week of July. With the precipitation last night, the levels have increased slightly. However with the dry, hot weather forecast for the upcoming week, the water levels will continue to drop and visibility will continue to increase.

Big bugs are hatching, and the fish are looking up ! The river is shaping up nicely and the golden stone hatch is in full swing. Fish big bugs this week ! Big orange Noble Chernobyls, size 4 or 6, big stimulators, and almost any big fly that floats, orange in color, and has legs !

Despite our large snowfall this past winter, water levels are about the same as last year as you can see below. The first graph is from this year (2008), and the second graph is for the same dates from 2007. With the amounts of snowpack still in the high country, we should have great water levels throughout the summer.

The summer dry fly fishing action has begun so give us a call today to book your guided trip.
